The Establishment of the University

Alnoor University began as a seed planted with sincere and sweet aspirations in the land of Nineveh. It grew and flourished to become a leading Iraqi private university, striving for integration with public universities and actively contributing to the development of the higher education system. Since its establishment, the university has overcome difficult circumstances and multiple challenges with determination and resolve, achieving a historic milestone in April 2024 by becoming the first private university in Nineveh Governorate. Eleven colleges Within the medical, health, technical, engineering, administrative, and humanities groups, in addition to Forty-four academic departmentsSome of them are distinguished by their uniqueness at the local level, while others enjoy a prominent status at both the Iraqi and regional levels. The university has provided a comprehensive educational environment for its students, including modern classrooms and advanced laboratories equipped with the latest devices and tools required for practical study. The dental teaching clinics continue to fulfill their training and service roles, operating (115) dental chairs and providing free treatment services to more than (250) patients daily. In line with its social responsibility, Al-Noor University works to strengthen its connection with the local community by promoting heritage, raising awareness of it, and stimulating related research and studies through the Department of Archaeological Tourism and the Alnoor Center for Heritage Preservation, in addition to its annual tradition of organizing Mosuli Heritage DayThe university continues its commitment to environmental protection through policies such as a smoking ban, the adoption of solar energy, the operation of a medical waste incinerator, and the use of recycling devices, in addition to sustainable tree-planting programs. In line with its embrace of digital transformation, the university in 2026 relies on integrated electronic systems, including digital portals and the principle of electronic payment, as well as the development of its smart bus fleet to transport students from their residential areas to the university and back, via organized routes extending across the neighborhoods of Mosul and the surrounding districts. Alnoor University places a central emphasis on scientific research, and the number of scientific studies completed at the university has reached Approximately 2,000 local and international scientific research paperswhich reflects the effectiveness of its faculty members’ scholarly output and their role in serving knowledge and the community. At the level of institutional excellence, the university has entered several global rankings, its departments have stood out in national rankings, and it has concluded scientific and academic cooperation agreements with international, regional, and local universities, contributing to enhancing scientific exchange and developing academic programs. In the field of postgraduate studies, the university continues its programs in partnership with University of Mosul. UTP Malaysian, especially in the field of Engineering Management, in addition to attracting Arab and foreign faculty members and admitting Arab and foreign students, with an annual full scholarship allocated in each department, in line with the initiative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. study in Iraq.

Alnoor University continues to organize international scientific conferences both inside Iraq and abroad, which reached approximately 35 conferences by 2026, in addition to holding dozens of scientific workshops, seminars, and discussion panels annually, contributing to foresight into the future and the promotion of rigorous scientific dialogue.
